Recruitment FAQ

What does Sigma Alpha Iota focus on?

Sigma Alpha Iota is an organization which promotes interaction among those who share a commitment to music. Members of SAI are active in all areas of campus music and campus life, working closely with faculty, administration, campus and community groups, music professionals and patrons. In addition to personal encouragement and support, members may receive scholarships and awards in many areas and at all levels of music-related study.

  • Service: Nationally Sigma Alpha Iota works with outreach programs like The Services for Musicians with Special Needs, they provide music, in cooperation with the Library of Congress, for the blind and partially sighted.  We also work with The People-to-People Project which sends music, instruments, and educational materials to deserving musicians world-wide.

  • Friendship: Where would we be without our sisters? Sigma Alpha Iota provides a strong network of active and alumna sisters who are always ready to go on an adventure or hang out. Because nothing is better than making the world a little more beautiful with people you love.

  • Leadership: Our sisters come from a variety of backgrounds but we all have that same leadership thread coursing through our veins. There are many opportunities available within our fraternity, from committee chairs to officers. Our leadership opportunities do not stop there, we have sisters that are on THON volunteers and executive members of other clubs and organizations. We realize the values that keep us connected as a service sorority translate into other leadership positions, and our sisters are there encouraging you along the way.

  • Scholarship: We have a strong academic presence, as all the sisters push each other to achieve things both in and out of the classroom. Undergraduate, Graduate, and Doctoral Scholarships, Summer Music Scholarships, and Chapter Outreach Grants are available to SAI members and chapters.
